Mission & History
VX Digital Defense emerged as a leading company in digital forensics through a convergence of professional expertise in the lab, reputation on the stand, and market demand. Initially, the founder recognized a critical need for simplifying complex technological capabilities, but also to make it available and accessible to those in need. Drawing on backgrounds in law enforcement, cybersecurity, public speaking, and training others, he united his skills and insights to establish VX Digital Defense, LLC. The company's formation was fueled by a commitment to protect others, uncovering the most out of technology and passion for the impact cybersecurity and digital forensics can have in the industry. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, VX Digital Defense quickly distinguished itself in the field of digital forensics and digital investigations among many clients and law firms across Texas.

Meet the Founder and Team
Mario Merendon
CEO/Chief Forensic Investigator
Mario has a passion for all things investigating, digital forensics, cyber technology, and professional instruction, bringing together both practical experience and education to his clients. Mario is a 15+ year law enforcement veteran with experience in criminal investigations including homicides, sex crimes, crimes against children, and internet crimes.
Mario is also experienced in digital forensics having managed the Denton County Criminal District Attorney’s Office Digital Forensic Lab where he supported 27 police agencies throughout 3 counties and has testified as an expert witness in multiple counties.
He currently Chairs the Mobile Device Forensics course with the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) which trains federal, state, local law enforcement and private examiners, and has served as a peer review coach, instructor and has presented in multiple conferences and training events.
Post law enforcement, Mario has held positions as Information Security Engineer, Information Security Manager, and Director of Cybersecurity and Technology Operations.
Mario holds a Masters in Cyber Security and Information Assurance from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelors in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College. He also holds certifications in Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), IACIS Certified Mobile Device Examiner (ICMDE), CompTia Security +, CompTia A+, and Certified CMMC Professional (CCP).
Lindsay Nordstrom
Open-Source Intelligence Professional (OSIP)
Lindsay Nordstrom is a dynamic, certified Open-Source Intelligence Professional (OSIP), acclaimed for her ability to extract vital information and compelling insights from publicly available sources. Specialized in legal investigations, she combines advanced analytical techniques with a deep understanding of the evidentiary rules for authenticating digital evidence. Her expertise supports law enforcement, private law firms, and investigation firms, delivering clear, actionable intelligence findings. Nordstrom's sharp instincts and innovative approach cement her as a standout in the OSINT field.
Nordstrom is a former litigation paralegal, specialized in legal research and trial preparation. She holds an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies and served five (5) years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children.
Nordstrom completed over 120 hours of training and the OSIP certification process with IntelTechniques, a leading force in Open-Source Intelligence methodology and training.
Nordstrom's OSINT expertise, along with her knowledge of the legal process and evidentiary rules, make her an asset to any investigation.
